Stanford Announces Rookie Class

With the fall season in the books, Stanford Men’s Lacrosse would like to announce its incoming recruiting class for the 2018 season, which includes 4 freshmen and 4 sophomores from a diverse set of lacrosse backgrounds.
Brian Hanley is a freshman from Caldwell, NJ, who’s interested in studying Management Science and Engineering. He has played lacrosse since the 4th grade and graduated from Delbarton last spring where he won the 2014, 2016, and 2017 state championships. In his free time, he enjoys surfing and hanging out with friends.
John Whiting is a freshman who was born and raised in San Francisco. He decided to go East to New Jersey for boarding school, where he attended The Lawrenceville School. Some of his academic interests include design and photography. He’s happy to be back in the Bay Area and is looking forward to a fun season.
Carlino Cuono is from Mercer Island, Washington and picked up lacrosse in while living in Virginia in sixth grade. Playing attack and midfield for the Mercer Island lacrosse program ever since, he hopes to continue playing at a high level at Stanford. He is interested in studying architectural design or product design and loves to build things and shoot pictures.
Alex Fuster is an attackman from Miami, Florida. He’s currently a sophomore pursuing a major in Engineering Physics. He enjoys wearing 3/4 leggings on the lacrosse field, as well as hiking and the outdoors.
Andrew Ekmark is a sophomore from Phoenix, Arizona studying Management Science and Engineering. He played basketball for the cardinal last year and picked up lacrosse this year. He is interested in Finance and doesn’t eat any vegetables.
Sean Konz is a Sophomore majoring in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science originally from upstate New York. Academically, Sean is interested in Machine learning focused on computer vision, and embedded system design. Outside of school and off the field, Sean works as a technical designer for the theatre community on campus and is currently the sound designer of Gaieties 2017.
Nicolas Peña Brown (Nico) is a sophomore at Stanford studying Public Policy. From the Dominican Republic, Nico played basketball and volleyball at a varsity level in high school. In his second year at Stanford, he decided to try out for the lacrosse team and is now playing short-stick D-mid on the team.
Giffin Young is a freshman from San Diego, California. In his free time, he likes to surf and play pickup basketball with friends, and he was on the Mock Trial team in high school. He’s now getting back into playing lacrosse this year after taking a hiatus in 9th Grade.
